Sexual and Reproductive Health Care Champions on Your Ballot
Deidre DeJear is the only candidate in the governor's race that is fiercely committed to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom. In addition to her promise to codify the right to abortion in Iowa, DeJear has pledged to restore public funds for family planning services, ensure access to age-appropriate, medically accurate, research-informed sex education, increase access to birth control, expand reproductive and sexual health services in rural areas, and establish paid parental leave provisions in the state.
Heather is a proven champion for reproductive and sexual health care at the Capitol. During her previous term in the Iowa House, Matson wrote the bill to restore critical funding to trusted health care providers across the state.1 She was a leader in speaking out against attacks on sex education and abortion access. Heather Matson will protect abortion access and expand reproductive freedom for all Iowans because she believes "fundamentally, reproductive health care is intensely personal, and all Iowans have the right to make these decisions for ourselves in consultation with our doctors, not politicians.”2

Todd Brady began his run for office to put public service over politics. This philosophy guides his approach to reproductive freedom as well. As your next state senator, Brady will be a fierce advocate for sexual and reproductive health at the Capitol. He pledges to fight for all Iowans to ensure they keep their right to abortion. Garrett Gobble, A Threat to Reproductive Freedom
Garrett Gobble voted for the unpopular constitutional amendment that would pave the path for extreme politicians to further restrict abortion in our state.1 He supports a total abortion ban in Iowa with exceptions for rape and incest.2 Under this type of ban, people would literally have to be violated before they are granted autonomy over their bodies and futures.
