Organizing Intern
Planned Parenthood internships teach legislative, issue, and electoral organizing, which includes community outreach and working with volunteers.
Overview
Planned Parenthood internships are available throughout the year (semester or year-long). Internships are a minimum of 100 hours (8-12 hours/week) and are unpaid. College credit can be arranged. Organizing interns can focus on community or campus organizing.
Qualifications
Prospective interns should be self-motivated, organized, and enthusiastic individuals who have a strong personal commitment to reproductive health care and the goals and philosophies of Planned Parenthood. Interns should also have good communication and writing skills, be able to meet deadlines, have an interest in electoral, public policy and non-profit advocacy work, and be willing to learn and perform a multitude of tasks ranging from volunteer recruitment and phone banks to community outreach and campus organizing.
Potential Projects
- Legislative, issue, and electoral organizing, including phone banks, literature drops, door-to-door canvassing, and visibility rallies.
- Campus outreach to educate and inspire college students to advocate for comprehensive health care access.
- Coordinating, recruiting, and working with volunteers.
- Promoting patient advocacy by providing materials and information to Planned Parenthood patients.
- Community outreach through staffing information tables at farmers’ markets, festivals, events, and local campuses.
- Additional projects such as research and event planning.
