Today, Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes (PPGP Votes) announced its endorsement of State Representative Crystal Quade for Missouri Governor. Quade has a proven track record of defending and protecting sexual and reproductive health care and rights for all Missourians. Her endorsement marks the first for PPGP Votesin the upcoming 2024 election.

Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade last year, Missouri became the first state to effectively ban abortion in nearly all cases, denying people their right to essential health care. As an experienced legislative leader, Quade recognizes that reproductive health care saves lives and is committed to creating access rooted in medical best practice, not partisan politics.

"Crystal Quade has led the charge to defend Missourians' rights to make their own health care decisions," said Emily Wales, president and CEO, Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes. "As a leader in the Missouri House, she has been a champion on sexual and reproductive health, and she has vowed to help rebuild meaningful access to abortion care in Missouri. Plenty of politicians show up when they want your vote, but throughout her career, Crystal has been committed to the hard work necessary to push back on politicians set on undermining the people they serve. We could not be more excited about Crystal's campaign to become Missouri's first female governor."

As governor, Quade has pledged to focus on solutions that address sexual and reproductive health issues facing communities including high maternal and infant mortality, anti-LGBTQIA+ discrimination, restrictions on gender-affirming care, a lack of health care providers in low-income and rural communities, and the systemic racism that alienates BIPOC women from their right to access health care and exercise bodily autonomy.

PPGP Votes advocates on behalf of the rights of patients served by Planned Parenthood Great Plains (PPGP) across Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. PPGP is a critical safety net provider in Missouri, with health centers in Columbia and Kansas City. Last year alone, PPGP provided more than 14,000 STI tests and 8,000 contraceptives, along with nearly 500 breast exams and 900 pap smears to Missouri patients.

Quade represents District 132 (Greene County) in the Missouri House of Representatives. She was re-elected by the Democratic Caucus to serve as the Minority Floor Leader for the upcoming 101st General Assembly.

PPGP Votes will make additional endorsements in state and local races throughout the election cycle. Learn more about the endorsement process at ppgpvotes.org.

The primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
