Planned Parenthood Illinois Action (PPIA) is an independent, nonpartisan, 501(c)4 not-for-profit organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood in Illinois.  PPIA engages in educational and electoral activity, including public education campaigns, grassroots organizing, and legislative advocacy on behalf of commonsense policies that protect and foster the sexual and reproductive health and rights of individuals, families, and communities.

What We Do

We at PPIA fight back when anti-abortion politicians and their extremist allies try to outlaw abortion, take away access to affordable birth control, and block patients from care at Planned Parenthood health centers. We fight alongside our partners when the basic human rights of patients, volunteers, supporters, activists, and staff of all races, faiths, genders, and identities are under attack.

To advance reproductive rights, we:

  • Educate and organize the public

  • Register, inform, and mobilize voters

  • Promote policies that help people access health care

  • Work with reproductive health champions in federal, state, and local legislatures

  • During elections, promote political candidates who advocate for Americans’ reproductive rights

  • Stand in solidarity with social justice partners to fight back against hate and discrimination

Planned Parenthood Illinois Action is led by Jennifer Welch, President and CEO.

Planned Parenthood Illinois Action also has a political action committee, Planned Parenthood Illinois Action PAC (PPIA PAC),  a nonpartisan political action committee committed to electing state and local candidates who are pro-choice and share our values.
