SPRINGFIELD - Today, Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced its endorsement of sexual and reproductive health champions Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) And Eric Sorensen (IL-17) in their reelection bids for the House of Representatives in 2024. Planned Parenthood Illinois Action (PPIA) applauds the endorsements.

Anti-abortion politicians in the House remain committed to attacking sexual and reproductive health care in order to achieve their ultimate goal – a national abortion ban. Re-electing both Budzinski and Sorensen is a crucial step in winning back a reproductive rights majority in the House.

“Representatives Budzinski and Sorensen have always been reliable and unapologetic allies in the fight for reproductive freedom and we need them to continue this critical work,” said PPIA Vice President of Public Policy Brigid Leahy. “They believe – like the majority of Illinoisans – that abortion is health care and that reproductive health care decisions should stay between patients and their medical providers, not politicians.

“There is so much on the line when it comes to our sexual and reproductive health care. We know that if anti-abortion politicians gain any more seats in the House, they will exploit their power to push through a national abortion ban. That is why Budzinski and Sorensen, leaders who always stand firm in their commitment to protecting our rights, must be reelected.”
