Joining PPGA has been such an enlightening experience! Not only have I met a like-minded community of peers at UIC who share my goals and interests, but we've been able to provide UIC students with resources and products to support safety and wellness on campus. Some of my favorite memories include our trivia games at tabling events, speaking with Greek Life and Dormitories on Safe Sexual Practices, and hosting educational events about global sexual health and period tracking applications. Our chapter has been focusing specifically on campus safety and access to resources. Joining the chapter has led me to have amazing friends, and I'm excited for our upcoming events as well.
Reva Srivastava (she/her), University of Illinois (Chicago), Junior, 2 years in PPGA
The biggest thing I've gained from this is the community. I thought I was alone in my desire to increase access to basic human rights and needs but every day, we get new faces and smiles joining our cause. I've had the privilege of seeing us grow from the ground up, from only a few focused individuals to a thriving force of nature. We have so much potential and love, and I know nothing can stand in our way.”
From Maya R. (she/her), DePaul University, Senior with 3 years in PPGA
Being a member of PPGA has helped me to better understand sexual and reproductive health, and to feel so much more comfortable while talking about these topics. Since joining, I have gained so much confidence and have grown more convinced of my desire to fight for reproductive justice. I think the most important thing that our group can do right now is to spread information, especially the information that is often suppressed, and to make contraceptives even more available on campus.
From Amanda Q, (she/her), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Sophomore with 2 years in PPGA
Being part of PPGA at UIUC has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I joined because I’m passionate about reproductive rights and wanted to take action on campus, and through this chapter, I’ve been able to engage in meaningful advocacy, education, and community outreach. Some of my favorite moments have been writing and campaigning for our school-wide referendums and hosting our bi-annual Condom Crawl. Events like this help spread education and resources in a fun and meaningful way, and our referendums have helped students access resources they need.
