The U.S. Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade in its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. This has eliminated the federal right to abortion and endangered the health of millions of Americans, especially North Dakotans.

North Dakota has a trigger ban in place so abortion access in North Dakota will be stopped within 30 days of today’s decision. Red River Women’s Clinic is the only abortion provider in the state, and we are in close communication about ways we can support each other to ensure that abortion care is available at a clinic nearby in Minnesota, where abortion remains legal.

We are devastated. We are outraged. We will fight back.

We must stand together and claim our power to make clear that North Dakotans need abortion access.

Here are three actions you can take right now to stand up for abortion rights in our state:

1. Attend a rally or event near you.

We are working to organize rallies and events across the state for supporters to stand in solidarity with one another as we enter this new era for reproductive rights. Details are being planned now–mark your calendar now, then watch our social for more details about upcoming events.

Bismarck — Rally with supporters for abortion access
July 9 | 10 a.m. | Capitol

Fargo — Rally with supporters for abortion access
July 9 | 6 p.m. | Fargo City Hall

Minot – Support abortion access at Pride
July 9 | 10 a.m. | The Spot
Grab swag supporting abortion access and learn more about the movement at our tables at Pride in the Inside

2. Donate to organizations on the front lines in North Dakota fighting for abortion access.

Fighting for abortion access is not something new in our state. There are organizations on the ground who have been working to help North Dakotans achieve reproductive freedom and will continue to fight for all, even in this new era of reproductive rights. We need your support. Consider donating to some or all of the organizations below:

North Dakota Women’s Network: NDWN works year-round across issues to improve the lives of women in North Dakota through communication, legislation, and activism.

Planned Parenthood North Central States: The local Planned Parenthood affiliate is committed to serve patients who need care in the states where abortion remains legal. That includes helping North Dakotans who will have to travel across state lines to get abortion care.

North Dakota WIN Fund: The North Dakota WIN Fund provides financial assistance for people seeking abortion in our state.

3. Pledge to Fight for Abortion Access

Our work doesn’t stop with this decision from the U.S. Supreme Court. We will fight back and we need supporters like you to join this fight.

Pledge to fight for abortion access. When you pledge, you’ll be the first to get email alerts for rallies and other upcoming events, the latest news about reproductive rights in North Dakota, and action items as we fight to protect sexual and reproductive health care in our state.

Our first test after this decision is the 2022 elections. We need your help to elect legislators who will fight for abortion access up and down the ballot. Join us now to jump start the change we need for a better future for all North Dakotans.

Thank you for being in this fight during this crucial moment. United, we will fight for a better future for North Dakota, where accessing essential health care doesn’t require crossing state lines.
