PP PA PAC announces Attorney General Josh Shapiro as 2022 gubernatorial endorsement

HARRISBURG, PA — Today, Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania PAC (PP PA PAC) endorsed current Attorney General Josh Shapiro in the 2022 gubernatorial race. Shapiro has a strong track record of defending access to safe, legal abortion.

"Every Pennsylvanian deserves access to affordable reproductive health care, and abortion must remain safe, legal, and accessible in our Commonwealth. As Republicans across the country try to overturn Roe and enact cruel, extreme abortion bans, I will be a steadfast defender of the right to choose and will veto any legislation that infringes on reproductive rights,” said Attorney General, Josh Shapiro. “I’m grateful for Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania PAC's support in this campaign and throughout my career and I look forward to fighting alongside them to protect and expand access to reproductive care."

As we continue to witness relentless attacks on abortion rights, we know that Shapiro will fight with us to protect our sexual and reproductive freedoms. He has challenged abortion bans across the country and protected access to contraceptives for millions.

“Josh has stood up for our communities,” said Signe Espinoza, PP PA PAC Executive Director. “Whether it was to protect our right to vote from extremist politicians or filing an injunction to protect our care, he has exemplified true leadership. He is the leader we need in the Governor’s mansion.”

In a legislature that is hostile to abortion rights, the governor’s veto pen can be the last line of defense. And, with so much uncertainty over the future of abortion access, we need to elect champions like Josh to ensure our rights are protected.
