We believe everyone has the right to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity.

In 2016, South Dakota legislators passed a bill that forced transgender students in public schools to use the bathrooms and locker rooms that matched their biological sex assigned at birth. This bill was vetoed by Gov. Daugaard in a major victory for LGBT activists and allies. Despite that, a similar bill was introduced in the 2017 legislative session.

Every student deserves equal access to privacy and dignity. We will fight against discrimination like this and make South Dakota a comfortable place for all of its residents.
