Austin, TX — Planned Parenthood Texas Votes PAC is proud to announce its endorsement of Akilah Bacy for Texas House District 138 and Jennifer Ramos for Texas House District 119.

Akilah Bacy is a Houston native and formerly served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Jennifer Ramos was born and raised on the South side of San Antonio and formerly served on the San Antonio City Council.

Statement by Dyana Limon-Mercado, Executive Director, Planned Parenthood Texas Votes PAC

“The upcoming November election is going to be one of the most watched and most competitive elections in Texas history. Making sure we elect strong candidates who will be champions for women’s health coming out of these runoffs will be critical for November and for the long-term outlook for reproductive rights in Texas.

“Planned Parenthood Texas Votes PAC is proud to endorse Akilah Bacy for Texas House District 138 and Jennifer Ramos in Texas House District 119 in the Primary Runoff Election—both of these candidates are 100 percent committed to protecting Planned Parenthood patients and health centers.

“Akilah is a former Planned Parenthood patient and has been a vocal supporter of the local Planned Parenthood. She knows first-hand how important it is for elected officials to stand up and fight for reproductive health care access. Jennifer is a first-generation college student and has 10 years of public service experience, and she has made health care a central part of her platform.

“We are urging every voter who supports Planned Parenthood to make their voices heard in this runoff election. Voting for bold new champions, like Akilah and Jennifer, is how we take back power in the Texas Capitol and stop anti-choice legislation.”
