Burlington, VT – More than 70 Planned Parenthood supporters and activists attended Planned Parenthood Vermont Action Fund Independent Expenditure Political Action Committee’s (PPVTAF IE PAC) signature fundraiser–Sex, Politics, and Cocktails–at the Farmhouse Tap & Grill on Tuesday, October 9th.

PPVTAF IE PAC proudly presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to honorees Allie Stickney, former Planned Parenthood of Northern New England CEO and current Board Chair of UVM Medical Center, and Dr. Jack Beecham, the pioneering Vermont medical doctor and reproductive rights champion. Choice Champion awards were presented to honorees Teremy Garen, University of Vermont's Student Planned Parenthood Generation Action Team President, and Alex Escaja-Heiss, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England's Peer Educator, a South Burlington High School alumnus.

Choice Champion awards honor the work of volunteers, donors, supporters, and community members in protecting and expanding access to sexual and reproductive health care in Vermont.

“Through their hard work and devotion to reproductive rights, Allie and Jack have ensured that their legacies will be, without question, on the right side of history,” said Meagan Gallagher, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Vermont Action Fund, on behalf of the IE PAC. She continued, “Congratulations to our Choice Champion honorees Teremy and Alex, who are true leaders fighting for the rights of all Vermonters when it comes to affordable, accessible health care, equality, and comprehensive sex education.”

“What an inspiration it is to honor Allie and Jack, who are such fierce forces in the ongoing reproductive rights movement, with our Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Creston Lea, Chair of the PPVTAF IE PAC Board. “Teremy and Alex filled the attendees with awe and hope for the future as they have already accomplished so much so early in life. We are thrilled to celebrate each of our honorees and their accomplishments.”

This year’s host committee included Creston Lea, Kerrie Mathes, Randall Perkins, Marilyn Blackwell, Dr. Felicia Kornbluh, Jim LeFevre, Joan MacKenzie, Sue Minter, Melinda Moulton, and Main Street Landing.
