Fontana deserves affordable, high-quality health care
Fontana City Council is blocking construction of a new Planned Parenthood health center
Show the City Council that Fontana residents and community members want a Planned Parenthood health center
For over a year, Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has diligently worked to secure construction permits to build a new health center in Fontana. However, time and time again they have been met with resistance from the city council, with the latest being a moratorium on building permits that only impacts Planned Parenthood, while sparing other businesses including those linked to City Council members.
In December, your local Planned Parenthood took a stand for patients and the community, filing a lawsuit against the city. This unmerited moratorium violates residents' rights to abortion, contraception, and reproductive health care access under California Constitution Article 1, Section 1.1, established by Prop 1 in November 2022.
These obstruction efforts are based on personal opinion and not informed by the needs of the community. The Fontana City Council has turned its back on its people and is actively contributing to the denial of health care access to its citizens. For each month that the City Council blocks Planned Parenthood, over 2,000 medical visits go unattended.
