My name is Christy Miceli, and I'm small business owner living in Wisconsin.

I didn’t go to Planned Parenthood to make a political statement, I went to see my doctor, and that doctor saved my life.

Although I have always wanted children, my cervical cancer took that away from me. During a routine Pap smear and physical when I was 24 years old, Planned Parenthood detected my cervical cancer. I was young and uninsured, and without a resource like Planned Parenthood, I would not have been able to afford the lifesaving care I received. I would not have been able to afford the diagnostic testing, the various procedures, and the extensive follow-up care. I would not be here today to tell my story.

I was lucky. The early detection and the surgeries and procedures that followed saved my life.

Wisconsin's legislature defunded Planned Parenthood.

For the last eight years, our state legislators have passed law after law trying to block women like me from getting care at Planned Parenthood, including defunding Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin.

That action forced the closure of five rural, family planning health centers. No other provider has stepped in to make sure women in those communities have the kind of care that saved my life.

That’s why I feel like I need to do something to stop these politically motivated attacks on the care Planned Parenthood provides. There’s an election on November 6th, and in Wisconsin, we have the chance to make a change. Wisconsin's legislature makes choices that impact how we get the health care we need.

That’s why I’m voting for women's health champions, and I urge you to do the same. They know that women like me need access to the high quality, affordable health care provided by Planned Parenthood.
