Wisconsin Senate District 31

On November 8th, 2022, we can take the first step toward restoring abortion access in Wisconsin. Let’s send people to Madison who will vote to protect reproductive rights.

Re-electing Jeff Smith is the best way to help restore abortion health care in Wisconsin. He will fight to restore laws that protect decisions that should be made by women and their doctors—not politicians.

Take Control. Vote.

✓ SUPPORT

Jeff Smith (D), Incumbent

Jeff Smith is is an unapologetic champion for reproductive rights. He co-sponsored the abortion rights preservation act to repeal Wisconsin's 1849 criminal abortion ban.

✗ OPPOSE

David Estenson (R), Challenger

Estenson is out of touch with Wisconsinites, supporting the criminal abortion ban and taking away our ability to decide our futures.

What's At Stake on November 8th:

Our state legislators make decisions that impact whether we have access health care. This November, there’s a lot at stake. We need a legislature with a vision to make sure all Wisconsinites are able to get the health care we need. Who we elect to our state Assembly and state Senate create laws that will have an immeasurable effect on Wisconsinites.

Restoring Abortion Access

Health care decisions, especially whether to continue a pregnancy, should be made between a patient, their doctor, and their loved ones, not politicians.

Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, Wisconsin's 173-year-old criminal abortion ban is preventing Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and others from providing abortion services. This leaves patients unable to access the care that’s best for them and it has medical providers fearing jail time for providing what can be life-saving care.

Our state lawmakers must repeal this the criminal abortion ban and make sure women in Wisconsin can access abortion care and decide their own futures.

Protecting Governor Evers Veto

Governor Evers has stood up for Wisconsinites time after time, including vetoing 5 anti-abortion bills this last year.  Often, Evers is the only one ensuring our rights are protected when Wisconsin Republicans don’t put people first.

Wisconsin Republicans are a few seats away from gaining a supermajority in the state legislature. If this happens they could override the Governors' vetos and pass any abortion restrictions they see fit.

We must elect lawmakers who will protect the veto and protect our rights.

Investing in Our Health

Along with access to safe and legal abortion, Wisconsinites deserve access to affordable health care across the board. Still, too many families must decide between getting care when they’re sick and getting the bills paid.

We need leaders who support healthy communities. Luckily, we have candidates on the ballot who know how important it is to expand Badgercare, ensure our rural communities have the necessary health care workers, and fund mental health services.

This is why Wisconsinites must elect representatives who prioritize health care on November 8th.

We need lawmakers who trust women to make their own health care decisions, Jeff Smith will work restore abortion access in Wisconsin.
