Why We're Proud to endorse Judge Elizabeth Rochford for Illinois State Supreme Court, District 2:
- She has a record of fairness during her time on the bench.
- She is highly recommended by the Illinois State Bar Association.
- She is supported by leaders who helped to make Illinois the pro-choice haven that it is today.
Why Should I Care About This Race?
We've seen the impact that the courts can have on our laws and lives. At the federal level, the courts have dismantled many progressive pieces of legislation and are determined to overturn the Roe v. Wade precedent.
The same is true at the State level. The court now has a slim pro-choice majority of 4-3. We must ensure that those numbers remain the same or increase.
States across the country are enacting harmful abortion bans and laws that would make abortion all but illegal. We must guarantee that Illinois remains a pro-choice haven in the Midwest for patients seeking essential care.
Why the other guy is bad
Mark Curran has been rated “not recommended” by the Illinois State Bar Association. [Source: American Family Association Survey, 2020]
Curren has also stated that he is strongly anti-choice and does not believe in the right to an abortion. He has also publically stated that he doses not believe that Planned Parenthood or any abortion providers should recieve government funding. These extreme views have no place in our Illinois State Supreme Court
