Since 2016, the Trump-Pence administration has reinforced a culture of fear in the immigrant community. From the imminent threat of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids, to cruel family separations and inhumane conditions in migrant detention camps, to the president’s racist and inflammatory rhetoric, immigrants are being stripped of their basic rights. Hatred and violence toward the immigrant community is being incited by the highest level of our government.
Fear is keeping many immigrants from seeking the health care they need. All people—regardless of immigration status—deserve access to health care, to stay with their families, and to live a life of dignity. No matter what. We condemn the Trump-Pence administration’s deportation raids and hateful rhetoric. We stand with immigrants and refugees.
The fear of deportation is preventing immigrants from getting health care.
The fear of deportation and violence keeps undocumented folks from seeking the health care they need, especially reproductive health care. Every person has the right, regardless of immigration status, to receive care, and there are rules in place to keep ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents away from hospitals and health clinics. In addition, these facilities must provide health care regardless of immigration or insurance status, and a government-issued photo ID should not be required to get care.
Access to health care is a basic human right—no matter who you are or where you’re from. We MUST stand with immigrant communities and fight back against the culture of hatred and violence the Trump-Pence administration has fostered.
Fight back NOW to protect immigrant communities.
