Thank you to all who pinked out and stood with Planned Parenthood!
On June 21, more than 400 supporters turned out to light the night sky pink, stand with Planned Parenthood, and urge Congress to protect health care access. With the Senate expected to release their health care bill Thursday, it is more important than ever to put up a united front and fight back against bills that would strip away access to quality, affordable care. By restricting access to Planned Parenthood clinics, the 28,000 Minnesotan’s who use Medicaid to pay for their care would immediately lose access to their provider of choice. It’s a fact that other health centers could not readily replace Planned Parenthood. Furthermore; without Planned Parenthood, unintended pregnancies and abortions would have been 15% higher.
The rally in St. Paul was one of many rallies occurring across at least 20 states. Zelda Tobias-Kotyk, public affairs intern for Planned Parenthood, was in awe with the energy of the crowd,
“It was amazing to be surrounded by people from all walks of life and all ages standing together, united to show strength in the face of adversity.”
The crowd of supporters filled the air with chants of support and listened to stories of life-changing care at Planned Parenthood from an activist, a patient, and a health care provider.
Thank you to everyone for pinking out the streets, showing your strength and unity, and most of all showing Congress that you will never back down.
