The following is a statement from Sarah Stoesz, President of the Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota Action Fund:
“We oppose the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and call on the Senate to do the same. The balance of the Supreme Court is at stake. With this nomination, women’s constitutional right to access safe, legal abortion in this country is in danger. We know how Brett Kavanaugh would rule on Roe v. Wade, because the president told us: Brett Kavanaugh would overturn Roe v. Wade. He would also get rid of the Affordable Care Act, leaving thousands of Minnesotans without health care.”
“History clearly demonstrates that when abortion is illegal and unsafe, women’s health and lives are put at serious risk. Generations of women will be affected if we lose the right to decide what is best for our health and for our families. We cannot allow our children and grandchildren to have fewer rights than we do today.”
