Michele Tafoya wants to ban abortion after 12 weeks. A 12-week abortion ban, like any other ban, is not rooted in science, autonomy, health, or safety. It would deny Minnesotans the fundamental right to control their body and make their own health care decisions. We cannot know a person’s situation- their health, wellbeing, risks, and future. Every person deserves the right to control their health and their future. Politicians like Michele Tafoya should not be making reproductive health care decisions for Minnesota families.
Michele Tafoya is the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Minnesota. Tafoya has said she is “completely aligned with President Donald Trump” on abortion, and seeks to confirm conservative judges who could further restrict reproductive rights. 1,2 Tafoya has criticized Minnesota’s abortion protections and urged voters to pressure gubernatorial and state legislative candidates as a result. 2 We need elected officials who will protect Minnesotans’ right to make private health care decisions without political interference.

Is Michele Tafoya pro-choice?
The threat to reproductive freedom is urgent and ongoing, even here in Minnesota. Anti-choice politicians were never serious about “leaving abortion rights to the states.” The Trump administration and a Republican-led Congress are escalating attacks on sexual and reproductive health care, no matter who gets hurt.
Here in Minnesota, our leaders have fought hard to keep abortion safe and legal, but these protections survive by razor-thin margins. Minnesota politicians obsessed with banning abortion continue to vote to strip away our rights and make care more expensive for patients. This November, we must protect the progress we’ve made in Minnesota, defend care from federal attacks, and elect leaders who will fight for our freedom.
