Tina Smith fights for Minnesotans

U.S. Senator Tina Smith has been fighting for Planned Parenthood her whole career—as vice president at Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota; as lieutenant governor of Minnesota; and as U.S. senator—standing up against attacks on our health care.

"We should trust women and their families to make their own decisions about their reproductive health care."

Tina Smith fights for health care access for every Minnesotan

Senator Tina Smith has focused on health care during her tenure in the Senate. Every day she fights to protect reproductive freedom and expand access to affordable health care.

She has fought to protect sexual and reproductive health care access by voting against bills that would defund Planned Parenthood, ban abortion after 20 weeks, and interfere with confidential and personal doctor-patient relationships. 1

Sen. Smith has argued that "The Title X gag rule must be repealed immediately." 2

She has authored bills to lower the cost of prescription drugs and expand mental health care options in schools. 3

Sen. Smith also authored the Rural Maternal and Obstetric Modernization of Services (MOMS) Act, which would help ensure that rural mothers can get the care they need and would address the poor maternal health outcomes of Black Americans. 4
