Planned Parenthood Advocates March and Rally at the St. Louis Presidential Debate
More than 100 Planned Parenthood supporters were among the 1000 activists who came out to the “Say No to Hate and Come Get Our Votes” rally before the second presidential debate in St. Louis. Speakers, including Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri Grassroots Organizer Nikia Paulette, urged the crowd to vote and fight for reproductive rights, racial justice, voting rights, LGBTQ rights, economic justice, voting rights, and religious tolerance.
Conference Recap: Youth Power Summit and SHIFT
Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes hosted the Youth Power Summit in Kansas City last month. More than 50 young advocates from Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma gathered to learn organizing skills to build power in the fight for reproductive rights, racial justice, LGBTQ rights, and gender equity. After a full day of training on Saturday, participants engaged the Kansas City community by registering voters.
Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri hosted more than 70 patient advocates from across the nation at the SHIFT Conference in St. Louis. Participants gathered to build power through sharing patient stories.
Planned Parenthood Great Plains Expands Again
Earlier this month, Planned Parenthood Great Plains (PPGP) expanded into Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma, making PPGP a four-state regional health care provider. The combined 12 health centers in the quad-state region will be headquartered in Kansas City.
“With this expansion, PPGP will be able to better serve its patients by adding primary and pediatric care to its list of comprehensive health services. Our focus is to ensure every person has access to the highest quality primary, reproductive, and sexual health care. Becoming a regional provider will enable our clinicians to collaborate closely and continue offering the most cutting-edge treatments for our patients,” Planned Parenthood Great Plains President and CEO Laura McQuade said.

Update: Women's Health Services Program
Thousands of low-income Missourians rely on the Women’s Health Services Program for essential preventive health care like birth control, cancer screenings, annual exams and sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment from the providers of their choice, including Planned Parenthood.
This past year, the Legislature temporarily cut the program in an attempt to deny patients access to Planned Parenthood. Reproductive health advocates spoke up loud and clear: More than 800 people told the state to protect access to health care through the Women’s Health Services Program Waiver.
