JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - In response to the Missouri Senate’s passage of Senate Bill 5, Planned Parenthood Advocates in Missouri Director of Policy and Organizing M’Evie Mead released the following statement:
“As Gov. Greitens continues to run up the tab for Missouri taxpayers by calling expensive, unnecessary Legislative sessions, it’s the women in our state who are paying the price.
“After a Legislative session punctuated by budget cuts, our state leaders continue to waste time and resources solving problems that don’t exist. Missourians did not send their elected officials to Jefferson City to play politics with women’s health. Yesterday, more than 200 Missourians gathered at the Capitol to send a clear message: Stop wasting tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars a day to promote an extreme agenda that harms Missourians.
“If the governor is interested in improving Missourians’ health, he should focus on priorities that will actually achieve positive health outcomes, like expanding access to health coverage through Medicaid.”
