The Missouri Senate has voted to pass a nearly clean FRA bill, without banning Medicaid coverage for birth control (including IUDs and emergency contraception), and without the so-called “defunding” of Planned Parenthood health centers.

Statement from Planned Parenthood Advocates in Missouri:

“While access to birth control and Planned Parenthood health centers were protected tonight, the fight for a clean FRA funding bill is not over. This is what it looks like to fight together for the most marginalized people among us. All providers and patients — of Planned Parenthood, nursing homes, hospitals, and other safety-nets — deserve better than to be treated like political bargaining chips. Planned Parenthood Advocates in Missouri and our partners won’t back down, not today, not ever.”

Planned Parenthood Advocates in Missouri works to protect and expand sexual and reproductive rights and health for all Missourians. It is a joint project of Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes and Advocates of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, the advocacy and political arms of both Planned Parenthood affiliates in Missouri.
