The Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts’ endorsements for Boston and Worcester City Councils
Reproductive freedom is a Massachusetts value – and we need elected leaders at every level of government who will prioritize people’s right to bodily autonomy and quality, accessible health care. As the fight to protect and expand reproductive freedom moves from the national to the state and local levels, the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts (PPAF) is proud to endorse candidates for the Boston and Worcester City Councils who will be bold, effective, unapologetic champions for reproductive rights and health equity – candidates who believe that individuals have the right to access equitable and affordable health care, to make decisions about when and how to grow their families, and to raise their families in safe and sustainable communities.
PPAF’s endorsed candidates have strong records supporting reproductive rights and are committed to taking action to prioritize health equity and patients’ access to sexual and reproductive health care in the face of the most severe attacks and restrictions on bodily autonomy in 50 years. While the right to abortion is protected in Massachusetts under the ROE Act, PPAF’s legislative priorities focus on:

Making abortion more accessible and affordable statewide;

Protecting patients and providers that seek or deliver care that is legal in Massachusetts;

Expanding access to birth control and comprehensive sex and relationship education across the state;

Ensuring residents have access to medically accurate, unbiased information about sexual and reproductive health care;

Combating systemic health inequities, especially for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.
