Programs

Raíz

Planned Parenthood’s Raíz program is committed to the leadership of Latinx organizers and their creativity and work in breaking down barriers in accessing health care in the Latinx community.

If you're interested in getting involved with the Raiz program, please contact Loriel Sanchez at [email protected] or learn more by following the link below.

Black Organizing Program (BOP)

BOP supports and uplifts the political and social power of Black communities through advocacy and organizing, education, and resource distribution to build an equitable, sustainable and inclusive movement that centers those who are most impacted, protects, and expands avenues for access to care, and attains reproductive freedom for all.

If you're interested in getting involved with the BOP program, please contact Loriel Sanchez at [email protected] or learn more by following the link below.

Planned Parenthood Generation Action (PPGen)

PPGen chapters organize events on local campuses and in New York communities to mobilize advocates for sexual and reproductive freedom and justice. With 13 campus groups across our affiliate, PPGen is a network of student activists who are harnessing the power, energy, and enthusiasm of young people to fight for reproductive freedom and for fundamental justice for all.

Become a health center escort

Our escorts work to ensure a safer entry and exit of our health centers for our patients without fear of organized protest, disruption or torment. Our program runs in the following health centers: NYC, Nassau County, Poughkeepsie, and Newburgh.

If you're interested in volunteering in NYC, please contact us at [email protected]. If you are in Nassau County, please contact Nicole Margiasso at [email protected]. If you're interested in volunteering in Poughkeepsie or Newburgh, please contact Jessica Vollaro at [email protected].

Program Volunteer Highlights

"Volunteering with PPGNY means being part of a mission that aligns deeply with my values. In a society where women’s health is often under prioritized, underfunded, and overlooked, contributing my time and energy to this work feels both urgent and empowering. I’m proud to support and advocate for sexual and reproductive healthcare, and to stand alongside others who are equally committed to making lasting change."

- Lola Oyinloye, Black Organizing Program Volunteer Leader, Region 1

"Leading the clinic escorting program has afforded me the incredible opportunity to get to know and work in solidarity with an amazing community of volunteers and staff whose dedication to reproductive care inspires me, particularly right now in such uncertain times."

- Cordelia Orbach, NYC HCE Volunteer Program Coordinator, Region 1

"Volunteering with PPGNY has been such a meaningful experience. It’s been powerful to meet and organize with others in my community who are just as committed to reproductive justice. Being part of the Black Organizing Program has deepened my understanding of local issues and helped me feel more connected and engaged as a New Yorker."

- Sydney James (she/they), Black Organizing Program Volunteer Leader

Working with PPGNY has allowed me not only to support this important work for reproductive justice, but also to work in coalition with other causes, namely advocating for immigrants facing the threat of detainment and deportation. I'm really looking forward to continuing to volunteer with PPGNY and the Raíz program so that I can continue to find ways to support the local community in advocating for these important freedoms."

- Mikayla DaSilva, Raiz Volunteer Leader, Region 2

As a Latina, first-generation college student, and aspiring OB/GYN, volunteering with PPGNY has given me the opportunity to grow as an advocate and speak up for communities that are often overlooked. From testifying at New York City Hall to organizing voter outreach for Prop 1, I've seen just how powerful it is when people come together to fight for reproductive justice. I'm proud to be part of a movement that puts people first and believes in a future where everyone, no matter their background, can access the care they deserve.

- Gabriella DeLeon, former Student Leadership Cohort Leader, Region 1
