Planned Parenthood North Central States (PPNCS) broke ground on a new state-of-the-art health center. Joined by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, many of Planned Parenthood’s most generous and dedicated donors, and dozens of Planned Parenthood health care providers—the gathering celebrated the expansion of health care and education that will serve three times as many patients in the heart of Minneapolis.
Thanks to generous support from our community, construction will begin this year on the brand new health center to expand our expert sexual and reproductive health care. Planned Parenthood is immensely grateful for the generous backing of some of its most loyal donors—supporters who believe in the mission of Planned Parenthood who are choosing to make their mark here, in this space, for today and for the future. There are still opportunities for individuals to contribute to the new health center and Planned Parenthood will be inviting more supporters to join this bold vision in the weeks and months ahead.
This building will be a beacon of hope—where we will provide expert reproductive health care to all who need it. No matter what happens in the country and no matter what happens to politics in Minnesota. This big, bold, beautiful three-story building will be making a statement to the world, that Planned Parenthood is here for good and our doors will always remain open.
- Sarah Stoesz, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood North Central States
Planned Parenthood has been providing expert health care and family planning in Minneapolis since 1931 and is excited to continue that tradition with a new and expanded health center in Uptown. The new health center will allow Planned Parenthood to better serve a growing and increasingly diverse patient base, provide additional off-street parking, expand education and outreach work within the Uptown community, and update the look and feel of the busiest Planned Parenthood health center in Minnesota.
While development of the new space is underway, current patients will have no interruption in their care. Planned Parenthood’s expert staff will continue to see patients at 918 W Lake Street, just two blocks away.
Planned Parenthood is building more than a health center here, Planned Parenthood is creating a space that embodies what Planned Parenthood has been for a century: a beacon of reproductive freedom, hope, and autonomy.
