2023 Legislative Scorecard
Nevada has long been a strongly pro-abortion rights and reproductive health care state, yet there are still many challenges to accessing those same rights that Nevadans vote to support time and time again.
This year in its legislative scorecard, PPVNV has tracked legislators individual commitments to reproductive health care by tracking social media activism, how they voted on PPVNV's legislative priorities, and whether or not they sponsored or led on key reproductive rights and health care legislation.
Legislation Tracked:
SJR7: A resolution that seeks to codify the right to reproductive freedom in the state's constitution including the right to abortion, obtain birth control, prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, tubal ligation, vasectomy, miscarriage management, and infertility care. The resolution is not required to be signed by the Governor and must pass again in the 2025 legislative session in order to appear on the 2026 ballot.
SB131: Codifies a 2022 Executive Order protecting abortion providers and out-of-state patients from prosecution by anti-abortion state governments for care received in Nevada.
SB163: Insurance coverage for gender-affirming care.
SB172: Guarantees that all people are affirmed in their legal right to seek access to reproductive care, including birth control and STI testing and treatment.
SB232: Extends Medicaid coverage for postpartum services to 12 months.
AB45: Student loan forgiveness for health care providers in underserved communities.
AB383: Protections for access to birth control, expands required coverage for birth control under the State Plan for Medicaid.
