ICYMI: Planned Parenthood Votes Nevada reacts to Gov. Lombardo’s signing of SB131
For Immediate Release: May 31, 2023
Bill codifying protections for abortion providers, out-of-state patients has been signed into law by Nevada Governor
Carson City, NV — Yesterday Governor Lombardo made good on his promise to sign SB131 into law, the bill sought to codify an existing executive order protecting abortion providers in Nevada who provide care to out-of-state patients as well as the out-of-state abortion patients themselves.
Statement of Lindsey Harmon, Executive Director, Planned Parenthood Votes Nevada:
“Nevada’s abortion providers and out-of-state patients choosing to seek care in our state can breathe a sigh of relief as Governor Lombardo signs SB131 into law. We are immensely grateful to Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro and her fellow legislators who supported this bill every step of the way with the knowledge that this will allow providers and patients some peace of mind in the face of continued national attacks against our most fundamental right to reproductive freedom.
The fight to achieve true reproductive freedom for all is a long one, but this is a critical step forward in ensuring that those who exercise their right to abortion in Nevada are protected.”
