Harnessing Your Energy
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) uses an app called Impactive to send supporters push notifications about urgent actions to support abortion rights. Just follow the directions below to sign on.
Download the Impactive App
Impactive is a digital organizing app and web platform built to fuel relational (friend-to-friend) organizing. When Planned Parenthood organizations publish calls to action, everyone who has downloaded the Impactive app can easily access their networks of friends, family, and contacts from the app to take meaningful action. This one-stop approach eliminates the need to switch back and forth between multiple webpages or messaging platforms, and instead puts everything you need right at your fingertips.
How to Download the App
1. Download the Impactive app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
2. Create an account with your name, phone number, and email.
3. Enter the Campaign Code: 597380
4. Enter your ZIP code.
5. Select login using the magic link: Open your email on your phone and click on the magic link provided in an email from the Impactive team to login to your new Impactive account. This will send you back to the Impactive app.
6. Once in the app, the home screen shows actions organized by Planned Parenthood Federation of America and local Planned Parenthood affiliate organizations that you can take and share.
7. Click on the phone book icon. This will sync your phone to discover which of your contacts are registered voters by matching names to the national voter file. Under this tab, you can also manage the contacts you would like to contact using Impactive.

9. The message icon takes you to your inbox, where you can tell your contacts, teammates, and potential supporters about a campaign they might be interested in joining.
Invite Your Friends
1. From the home icon in the bottom left, select the action named "Text a friend to turn out to protect and support abortion access," and pick the contacts that you’d like to message. When choosing contacts, think about who is most likely to join a march.
2. Once you’ve selected contacts you want to message, review the pre-populated message and edit as needed. You can make changes to the content to make it sound more like you. Any edits you make will update the default message for the rest of your contacts for this action.
3. Hit SEND in the app, and your phone will switch to your regular text messaging app, with this message pre-filled. Then hit SEND on your phone! These messages will be sent from your phone number.
4. Go back to Impactive and repeat with the next person you selected. You’ll do this until you’ve messaged everyone you picked out.
5. Once you have messaged each of your contacts, you will be able to fill out an outreach report about how each conversation went!
- To fill out a report about a conversation, click on the inbox tab and click on the message thread for the contact. Then click on the report icon.
- Fill out all of the information you can on the report, and click send to campaign!
