WASHINGTON, DC — Kari Lake will say anything to get elected. In the last two weeks, she’s boomeranged back and forth between acting like she opposes Arizona’s Civil War-era total abortion ban, to calling on Arizona sheriffs to enforce the law. In her latest shift, Lake doubled down on her support of the ban, saying she’s disappointed in Arizona’s attorney general for not enforcing the law. Lake told the Idaho Dispatch, “The Arizona Supreme Court said this is the law of Arizona. But unfortunately, the people running our state have said we’re not going to enforce it.”

“Kari Lake must be counting on Arizona voters being confused about her stance on abortion, but make no mistake: Arizonans won’t be fooled by her duplicity,” said Jenny Lawson, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes. “Just weeks after saying that the total abortion ban is out-of-step with Arizonans, Lake is showing that her message changes with her audience and who she thinks will help her win. We know not only that she doesn’t care about the Arizonans who will be impacted by the state’s horrific abortion ban, but she’ll also jump at the chance to ban abortion nationally if given the chance. Planned Parenthood Votes will do everything in our power to make sure voters know the truth about Kari Lake.”
