Ads urge voters to elect Daniel McCaffery to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to protect abortion access

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today Planned Parenthood Votes released a six-figure digital ad campaign focused on anti-abortion rights candidate Carolyn Carluccio who is running for the  Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Carluccio has scrubbed her website of anti-abortion language and is hiding her dangerous positions on sexual and reproductive health care. The ads will run on digital platforms across the state to remind voters of what’s at stake in this election. As we look toward November, Planned Parenthood Votes will continue to expand its investment in this race through digital advertising and encouraging voters to vote for sexual and reproductive health champion Daniel McCaffery on November 7th.

Statement from Breana Ross, spokesperson, Planned Parenthood Votes

“Carolyn Carluccio ran on being an anti-abortion judge in the Republican primary but now she’s trying to hide her anti-abortion views. She cannot be trusted to respect Pennsylvanians’ constitutional rights. Now more than ever, it is critical that we elect justices who are committed to fairness and equality to protect our democracy and hold out-of-touch politicians accountable. We know where Carluccio stands and it’s not with the majority of Pennsylvanians who proved last election cycle that they want candidates who will protect access to safe, legal abortion. This election could determine the future of abortion access in the state and Daniel McCaffery is the leader Pennsylvania needs. He will be a champion for Pennsylvanians' personal freedoms on the court and serve as a critical backstop against anti-abortion legislative attacks. Planned Parenthood Votes is committed to electing McCaffery to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and mobilizing voters who support reproductive health care to turn out this November.”

Carluccio has a dangerous record on abortion:

  • Endorsed by the Pennsylvania Pro-life Federation, an anti-abortion organization that wants to ban abortion from conception in Pennsylvania.
  • Carluccio wiped her anti-abortion stance from her website following the May 2023 primary election. It previously described her as a “defender of 2nd Amendment rights and all life under the law.”
  • Carluccio’s family foundation, the Little Tower Foundation, has given at least $10,000 to a local anti-abortion fake clinic. Carluccio has served as the organization’s bookkeeper and is a substantial contributor to the foundation.
