WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, in response to Supreme Court oral arguments in Food and Drug Administration v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, a case that could jeopardize FDA approval of the medication abortion mifepristone, Jenny Lawson, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, released the following statement:

“Today’s oral arguments are the clearest sign yet that the anti-abortion movement’s assault on our reproductive rights is just beginning. No matter what state you live in, abortion opponents remain focused on their ultimate goal of a national abortion ban."

“To be clear: Mifepristone is a safe, effective medication that has been used by more than 5 million people across the U.S. Should the Supreme Court allow this essential medicine to be restricted, it will only worsen the public health crisis Donald Trump created when he delivered  - the Supreme Court majority that ended our federal abortion rights."

“Abortion is on the ballot this November. If he is re-elected, Trump and his allies will end abortion access across the country, and come after birth control and IVF next. While we hope the Supreme Court rejects this politically motivated attempt to interfere with our health care, voters have a chance to make their voices heard at the ballot box. We must elect candidates who know that politicians have no place in our medical decisions and reject efforts to control our bodies, lives, and futures. Planned Parenthood Votes will continue to sound the alarm and be there every step of the way to educate voters about what’s at stake.”
