Planned Parenthood Votes Statement on Tim Scott’s Presidential Exploratory Committee

Washington, D.C. — Today, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) announced an exploratory committee for a 2024 presidential campaign. Jenny Lawson, the executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, issued the following statement:

“Senator Tim Scott will never be president. He has a dangerous record on abortion that is deeply out-of-touch with South Carolinians and the American people. Mind you — this is the same man who sent a fundraising email about abortions at 52 weeks — and typical pregnancies are 40 weeks. We can’t afford to let this overzealous politician who’s ignorant about sexual and reproductive health care become the most powerful person in the country. Planned Parenthood Votes will make sure that doesn’t happen.”
