Planned Parenthood is the largest source of sex education across our region, reaching more than 40,000 adults and young people. Highly trained sex educators are invited in to public and private schools, community centers, scout troops, churches, health clinics and more teach a variety of topics. In order to prevent sexual violence, young people need access to sex education that includes consent and healthy relationships, starting well before college and well before they become sexually active.
Planned Parenthood Action Fund Statement on Tim Pawlenty’s Announcement that He Will Run for Governor
Tim Pawlenty left Minnesota with a legacy of extreme laws that limit women’s access to abortion in our state. During his eight years as Governor, he undermined the health of Minnesota women and families, slashing health care funding while the number of uninsured Minnesotans increased by 50 percent.
It’s up to all of us to stand up for what we believe in – to proclaim loudly that shame and stigma have no place in health care, and that everyone deserves high-quality, affordable health care and accurate information. Here are six ways you can show your solidarity with Planned Parenthood.
The Minnesota Senate Committee on Health and Human Services Finance and Policy advanced SF 2849, which requires health care providers to offer patients the option of viewing an ultrasound prior to an abortion.
Every year on Good Friday, thousands of anti-Planned Parenthood protesters descend on the Planned Parenthood clinic at Vandalia Street in St. Paul. This is your chance to show up, speak up, and stand up for the patients that count on Planned Parenthood.
The Minnesota House of Representatives’ Health and Human Services Reform Committee advanced HF 3194, which requires health care providers to offer patients the option of viewing an ultrasound prior to an abortion.
HF 2998 / SF 2644 would require the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to create “Choose Life” license plates, with proceeds going to Positive Alternative to Abortion grantees (i.e. crisis pregnancy centers).
HF 2792 / SF 3382 would ban abortion at the point of fertilization, confer personhood status on a fertilized egg, and makes performing an abortion a felony crime. Politicians have no business making health care decisions for Minnesota women.
HF 3194/SF 2849 would require providers to offer patients the option of viewing an ultrasound prior to an abortion. Doctors, not politicians, should determine the health care needs of patients.
