Scientific and Medically Accurate Information
Hard-line ideologues frequently advocate for public policy based on their beliefs rather than tested science. This includes such tactics as reporting on the unfounded link between abortion and breast cancer, counseling from a “crisis pregnancy center,” or setting misinformation in standards for everything from condom efficacy rates to sex education programs. We have recently seen ballot and legislative efforts that could allow religious organizations to challenge any government regulation that they perceive as burdening their right to engage in religious activities even if the burden is not specific to the activity itself. In light of the religious opposition to Planned Parenthood in New Mexico, this could have a significant impact on the laws and regulations in place to protect our business, clients, and their access to services.
