Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains Action Fund Board Announces Secretary of State Endorsement
Albuquerque, NM— Today, the Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains Action Fund Board endorsed Maggie Toulouse Oliver for Secretary of State of New Mexico. Candidates were sent a questionnaire to determine support of reproductive health care and access. Her opponent, Nora Espinoza, is a former legislator who sponsored several anti-choice bills and was a vocal opponent of abortion and reproductive health.
Planned Parenthood Votes New Mexico supports candidates who trust women to make their own healthcare decisions, including decisions about abortion. PPVNM is proud to add an endorsement for GloJean Todocheene for House District 4 to our list of reproductive health and rights candidates. Like all PPVNM endorsed candidates. Ms. Todocheene took the PPVNM candidate survey that includes questions on policies that come before a state legislature on reproductive rights and health. She will be a strong advocate for New Mexicans reproductive rights and women’s health.
Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund Action Fund, issued the below statement on the 51st anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, taking place on
Saturday, August 6. In 2013, the Supreme court decision
Shelby County v. Holder
gutted the Voting Rights Act, which heavily affected the electoral process for marginalized communities and
people of color. We are better off when more people have a voice in our political process — we should be passing laws that make it easier to vote, not harder.
