Who are Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations?
Planned Parenthood Action Fund is a nonprofit, non-partisan membership organization tax exempt under section 501(c)(4). The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and limited electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education, to promote, protect, expand, and restore sexual and reproductive health and rights. The Action Fund was formed in 1989 as the advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). PPFA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates, which operate nonprofit health centers across the U.S.. Many Planned Parenthood affiliates have related advocacy organizations as well. Collectively, Planned Parenthood Action Fund and the dozens of Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations across the country serve as the nation’s leading advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights.
