Teen pregnancy and birth rates are at a historic 40-year low, thanks, in part, to increased investment in evidence-based sex education programs and access to birth control. 

Yet today the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies joined their House colleagues in a race to the bottom on women’s health — issuing a 2016 fiscal year funding proposal that would dramatically reduce the nation’s family planning program, as well as gut funding for teen pregnancy prevention and sex education programs—while increasing funding for ineffective abstinence-only programs by 300 percent.
