Planned Parenthood Supporters Fight to Save Healthcare

Planned Parenthood supporters spent this week putting up a fight.
When the Senate tried to rush a vote on ‘Trumpcare’ this week, hundreds of local Planned Parenthood supporters fought back by “pinking out” the Hill every morning and evening with a clear message to the Senate, “Protect Planned Parenthood. Vote NO on Trumpcare.”
Thanks to the hard work of these advocates, McConnell announced that the Senate vote on Trumpcare will be delayed until after the July 4th recess to solicit more support from GOP senators. But even though they’re trying to buy more time, it won’t change the fact that this bill is an unpopular one.
Trumpcare would strip health care from millions and block low-income patients from going to Planned Parenthood for preventive care, including birth control and cancer screenings.
80% oppose “defunding” Planned Parenthood
A new poll from Quinnipiac University came out today finding that 80% of American voters oppose so-called “defunding” Planned Parenthood, including 67% of Republicans
This support for the care Planned Parenthood provides has stayed consistent over time. Back in March of this year, a Quinnipiac poll also found that 80% of voters oppose so-called “defunding” Planned Parenthood.
In addition to “defunding” Planned Parenthood and slashing Medicaid, Trumpcare guts Essential Health Benefits protections, including maternity coverage and prescription drugs. Thirteen million women could lose coverage to maternity care under this bill. It would also disproportionately impact women who already face unfair barriers to care, including low-income women and women of color. We can’t let that happen.
Keep Calling
Even with the delay on the health care vote, it’s more urgent than ever that Senators know we won’t tolerate attacks on Planned Parenthood.
