Today, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) introduced a nationwide abortion ban, making it crystal clear: A Congress with a Republican majority is intent on banning abortion in all 50 states.

Right now, 16 states have abortion bans in effect. Out-of-touch state politicians across the country are rushing to ban abortion for even more Americans. And who we elect this November will determine our right to an abortion and whether the Senate can pass a nationwide abortion ban.

Anti-abortion rights politicians aren’t hiding the ball: They want to ban abortion nationwide. This once-hypothetical nightmare is now here. Who we elect this November will determine our right to an abortion and whether Congress can pass a nationwide abortion ban.

Make no mistake about what this bill is: it is a national abortion ban. Should anti-abortion politicians gain power in Congress, they will seek to ban abortion in every state in the country – end of story.

The chaos, confusion, and devastation we’re now seeing in states across the country is what anti-abortion lawmakers have worked for decades to create. Now, they want to spread that to every state in the nation.

This has never been about “states’ rights.” This is about control. Opponents of abortion and other reproductive rights want to control our bodies, lives, and futures to assert their power over others. And they won’t stop until abortion is banned across the country

Let’s be clear: With candidates like Ron Johnson, Marco Rubio, Ted Budd, Blake Masters, Herschel Walker, Adam Laxalt, Mehmet Oz and other anti-abortion politicians in the Senate, they will pass a national abortion ban. They only need one more vote in the Senate to control the majority and bring this bill to the floor. No amount of website scrubbing can hide their dangerous and out-of-touch agenda. They must be held to account.

Americans overwhelmingly support access to safe, legal abortion — and are furious at the lawmakers who are imposing abortion bans and interfering with people’s personal health care decisions. And they’ll hold these anti-abortion politicians accountable at the ballot box in November.
