Washington, DC - After Senator Kelly Ayotte has unapologetically voted three times to defund Planned Parenthood and the preventive care — including breast cancer screenings and birth control — it provides to thousands of women in New Hampshire, national groups are trying to bail her out with New Hampshire voters by lying about her record on women’s health.

This is the second ad in two weeks from an outside group perpetuating harmful lies about Ayotte’s dangerous record on women’s health.

Despite the fact that in New Hampshire alone in 2013, Planned Parenthood provided over 3,500 breast exams and provided nearly 12,000 individuals with birth control, Kelly Ayotte voted to cut women off from these critical services.

Statement from Jennifer Frizzell, Vice President of Public Policy for Planned Parenthood of New Hampshire Action Fund:

“Kelly Ayotte and her outside allies are lying to New Hampshire women. When it’s time for an election, she claims she supported women’s access to health care — but when it mattered most over the past five years, when she had to make a choice as a Senator, she voted repeatedly to cut women’s access to health care.

“While Kelly Ayotte is trying to run from her harmful history of cutting access to birth control and breast cancer screenings, she is ignoring New Hampshire voters who have made it crystal clear they do not want these services compromised. She cannot keep hiding behind ads that repeatedly tell lies about her efforts to cut New Hampshire patients off from the care they need and deserve. New Hampshire voters won’t be fooled.”

In a recent poll, 66 percent of New Hampshire voters oppose defunding Planned Parenthood’s preventive health services, including 72 percent of Independents — a fact repeatedly ignored by Senator Ayotte.
