New York, NY – Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, released the following statement following tonight’s presidential debate:

Hillary Clinton is tonight’s clear winner. She laid out a thoughtful and detailed vision to lead America and bring the country together by laying out the urgent need to end systemic racism – which has left too many in the Black community without opportunity to live up to their fullest potential – and clear reassurances of her ability to keep our country safe from threats at home and abroad.

“Donald Trump has proven over and over again he is deeply unfit to be President, lacking the temperament to lead in addition to having made a career focused on self-dealing, failed businesses based in fraud, and insulting women – calling them every hateful name in the book from fat pigs to slobs. His divisive, hateful rhetoric – coupled by the dangerous, discriminatory policies he backs – won’t fool voters and they certainly won’t fool women. Yet again, Trump had literally nothing to say when asked serious questions about systemic racism in our country.

“In stark contrast stands Hillary Clinton and her lifetime record of fighting for women and families. She is the leader we need to unite our country, and support our families in the twenty first century. Every year, 2.5 million patients trust Planned Parenthood health centers to provide high quality care – free of judgement – and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund trusts Hillary Clinton as our next President of the United States.”
