Hillary Clinton Will be the President for all Americans; Protect Roe v. Wade
For Immediate Release: Oct. 10, 2016
Statement from Cecile Richards, President, Planned Parenthood Action Fund:
“Hillary Clinton has been saying it for decades: ‘Women's rights are human rights.’ Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s violent and aggressive attitudes toward women coupled with his dangerous policies would take women back decades -- threatening everything we have fought for, including safe, legal abortion. Hillary was clear tonight she would protect Roe v. Wade, and Trump wouldn’t.
“Let’s be clear: Women have the voting power to put one of the strongest candidates in history in the White House. Women will be the reason Trump is not elected president.”
Hillary Clinton on protecting Roe v. Wade:
“I would like the Supreme Court to understand that voting rights are still a big problem in many parts of the country. That we don't do everything we can to make it possible for people of color and older people and young people to be able to exercise their franchise. I want a Supreme Court that will stick with Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to choose, and I want a Supreme Court that will stick with marriage equality. Now, Donald has put forth the names of some people that he would consider. And among the ones that he has suggested are people who would reverse Roe v. Wade and reverse marriage equality. I think that would be a terrible mistake and would take us backwards.
Other top moments tonight:
“I have a positive and optimistic view of what we can do together. That’s why the slogan of my campaign is stronger together. Because I think if we work together and we overcome the divisiveness that sometimes sets Americans against one another; and instead we make big goals and I set forth big goals getting the economy to work and not just those at the top.”
“I want to be the President for all Americans regardless of political beliefs, where you come from, or religion, or what you look like. I want to bring us together. That's the best way to get the future that our children and grandchildren deserve.”
