WASHINGTON D.C. - Today, Funny or Die and Planned Parenthood Action Fund released a new video that reveals just how dangerous Brett Kavanaugh would be to women’s health and rights.

It is clear that if Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed to the Supreme Court, he would rule to gut Roe v. Wadebecause he’s ruled against the constitutional right to safe, legal abortion before. Just last year, he attempted to use his judicial power to prevent a young, undocumented woman in U.S. custody from accessing a safe, legal abortion. If Kavanaugh had had his way, he would have allowed the government to delay the young woman’s abortion by more than one month, pushing her into the second trimester. He’s also argued against women’s access to birth control. Brett Kavanaugh authored the dissenting opinion in the D.C. Circuit’s 2015 ruling on the Affordable Care Act’s birth control benefit, writing that he believed employers have the right to deny their employees health insurance coverage for birth control.

Quote from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

It’s not funny how dangerous Brett Kavanaugh would be to women’s health and rights. Kavanaugh’s actions have proven that, if he’s confirmed, he would rule to gut Roe v. Wade. Access to safe, legal abortion is on the line. The ability to receive health care free from discrimination is at stake. That’s why women across the country are educating their neighbors, sharing their stories, and calling their senators.

Transcript of Video:

“Ladies, sistas, yas queens, I know you're nervous that the Supreme Court shakeup is gonna result in you losing your constitutional rights, including abortion access. But you don't have to worry about a thing. Because Donald Trump just nominated Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court!
“Trust me, Brett Kavanaugh is a great guy. I know it may seem like Kavanaugh doesn't care about women because he has a history of not caring about women. Silly little things he's done like praising Justice Rehnquist’s Roe v. Wade dissent, or arguing on behalf of bosses who wanna override women's access to birth control, and sure, voting to force a young immigrant to give birth against her will. But he also coaches his daughters' basketball teams!
“So, who's to say? I'm saying, he's great. Basically, I'm here to explain to you, as a man, that you're wrong about Brett Kavanaugh. You know why? Because Judge Brett Kavanaugh knows lots and lots of women. His wife is a woman. His mother is a woman. His wife's mother is a woman. That's three I can count. How could he possibly take away a woman's right to choose with female mothers like that in his very own family.
“And here's a picture of America's next Supreme Court Justice with, like, 15 women. Oh ho ho, I would never be in a room with 15 women. Two and I'm out, you know, that's impressive. Wow!
“And never you mind that Donald Trump promised that Roe v. Wade would be overturned if he became president, or that Kavanaugh was chosen from a list of 25 right-wing judges who were handpicked because they would overturn Roe. Because you know what? Nothing in his mostly unreleased record proves that he will.
“Tell me, why after decades of trying to take away a woman's right to choose, would the GOP try to take away a woman's right to choose? I mean it's too obvious. And you know what else is obvious? Brett Kavanaugh cares about women.
“Ladies, let me talk to you like a lady. Why trust yourself with the freedom and opportunity to control your body, your family, and your future when you can trust a man named Brett? A man, named Brett, hm. Has anyone ever told you you're prettier when you smile?
“Don't call your senator, it just makes your voice shrill. Contact your senator, text 22422. You know, if you wanna be a bitch.”
