Planned Parenthood Action Fund: Denying Asylum is a Racist Attack on Migrants
For Immediate Release: Nov. 9, 2018
Washington, DC — President Trump unveiled a plan yesterday to deny asylum to migrants who cross the U.S.-Mexico border. This is another clear attempt to punish Central American families fleeing violence in their home countries and seeking safety in the U.S.
Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President, Planned Parenthood Action Fund:
This is inhumane and reckless. Trump is targeting children, parents, and others fleeing unspeakable violence and prosecution and seeking refuge. All people seeking safety in the U.S. deserve a fair process and an opportunity to be heard.
“We will continue to fight alongside our partners to ensure families are treated humanely and with the respect they deserve. We will not sit by silently while the Trump-Pence administration uses threats against immigrants’ health and lives as a tool to advance their anti-immigrant agenda. We will continue to stand with immigrant communities and be a vocal advocate alongside our immigration partners in the fight to end these atrocities.
