Planned Parenthood Action Fund Endorses David Weprin in New York’s Ninth Congressional District
For Immediate Release: May 11, 2012
Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced its endorsement of David Weprin in New York’s Ninth Congressional District race. The Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
“Planned Parenthood Action Fund is proud to support David Weprin for Congress,” said Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “The work he has done to help women and families in New York during his time as a State Assembly member underscores his passionate advocacy, which is exactly what New York needs.”
In the New York Assembly, David Weprin has fought for New York women and families. He was a co-sponsor of the Reproductive Health Act and is a member of the Bipartisan Pro-Choice Legislative Caucus. As the next United States Representative from New York, David Weprin will continue to be a strong advocate for the women and families of Brooklyn and Queens.
“In both the New York City Council and the New York State Assembly, David Weprin has been an unrelenting advocate for women's reproductive health care. We look forward to continuing to have a strong pro-choice advocate in the Ninth Congressional District,” said Simone Ward, vice president for public affairs for Planned Parenthood of New York City Action Fund.
The contrast in New York’s Ninth Congressional District could not be more distinct. While David Weprin is a dedicated leader who has always been a champion for New York women and families, his opponent, Bob Turner, has publicly stated that he would vote against a woman’s right to choose. The women of New York deserve better – they deserve David Weprin.
