The Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced its endorsement of Dr. John LaFerla for Congress in Maryland’s First Congressional District race.  The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

“Planned Parenthood Action Fund is proud to support Dr. John LaFerla for Congress,” said Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.  “The work he has done for women and their families as a women’s health care professional in Maryland underscores his commitment and passionate advocacy for women’s health care.  If elected he will be a champion for women in Congress.”

Dr. LaFerla has dedicated his life both professionally and personally to women’s health for over four decades.  As an ob-gyn he has provided care to thousands of women, and worked to provide and protect access for all women to have the health care services they need.

The contrast between Dr. LaFerla and his opponent, incumbent Congressman Andy Harris (R), could not be more distinct.  Instead of standing up for women’s health, Rep. Harris has voted over and over to undermine women’s access to health care. Congressman Harris has a zero percent rating from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

Voters in Maryland deserve better — they deserve Dr. John LaFerla.
