New York, NY – Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced its endorsements today of four candidates running for Congress – Staci Appel (IA-03), Erin Bilbray (NV-03), Sean Eldridge (NY-19), and Martha Robertson (NY-23). Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

“Planned Parenthood Action Fund is proud to endorse Staci Appel, Erin Bilbray, Sean Eldridge, and Martha Robertson in their races for Congress today,” said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Each candidate is a strong advocate for women’s health and rights, and will continue to fight for women’s access to birth control, preventive health care, and women’s reproductive rights. It’s clear that we need advocates on the right side of women’s health issues in Washington. Staci, Erin, Sean and Martha are the candidates we need and we look forward to supporting them towards a successful election.”

“We proudly stand with Planned Parenthood Action Fund in support of Staci Appel, who has been unwavering in her support for women’s health in Iowa,” said Planned Parenthood Voters of Iowa President/CEO Jill June. “As an Iowa state senator, Appel was a critical voice against bills designed to restrict access to women’s health care and defund Planned Parenthood. The women and men of Iowa’s third congressional district can trust Staci Appel – soon to be Iowa’s first congresswoman.”

“As founder of Emerge Nevada, Erin Bilbray has played a critical role in helping elect strong women to public office,” said Elisa Cafferata, president and CEO of Nevada Advocates for Planned Parenthood Affiliates. “Now it’s her turn to represent the men, women and families of Nevada as someone who will stand up against vicious attacks against access to health care.”

“Sean Eldridge will be a strong voice against bills that are designed to restrict access to women’s health care,” said Family Planning Advocates of New York State President and CEO M. Tracey Brooks. “Eldridge has been a champion for access to equal rights through his work during President Obama’s 2008 victory, and at Freedom to Marry where he helped efforts in New York to pass marriage equality. He understands that politicians should not meddle in a woman’s personal health care decisions.”

“Martha Robertson will be a visible, passionate and committed champion for women’s health,” said Family Planning Advocates of New York State President and CEO M. Tracey Brooks. “She will fight for women’s access to health care, and women’s ability to make their own health care decisions. While some politicians in New York continue to attack women’s health care, the voters of New York can trust Martha Robertson to stand with them here at home and in Washington.”
