Planned Parenthood Action Fund Endorses Joe Kennedy for Congress
For Immediate Release: Jan. 27, 2013
Planned Parenthood Action Fund announces its endorsement of Joseph Kennedy III for Massachusetts’ fourth congressional district today. The Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
“We are proud to endorse Joe Kennedy in his race for Congress today,” said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Kennedy clearly understands the importance of women’s health issues for the health and economic well-being of Massachusetts families. Kennedy will be a strong champion for access to affordable reproductive and preventive health care in the U.S. House of Representatives.”
Joe Kennedy will stand up to those in Congress who continue putting politics ahead of women’s access to health care. He also clearly understands that access to preventive health services, including birth control and cancer screenings, save lives and dollars for the women and families in Massachusetts’ fourth district.
“Massachusetts’ women and families can count on Joe Kennedy to fight for them in Washington,” said Dianne Luby, president of the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts. “We are extremely excited that the Action Fund has endorsed him for Massachusetts’ fourth congressional district and know he will put commonsense health care needs ahead of ideology and politics.”
Kennedy is the son of former Congressman Joseph Patrick Kennedy II and Sheila Brewster. His grandfather is the late U.S. Senator and former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. He is running to replace Congressman Barney Frank, who is retiring from Congress.
