Planned Parenthood Action Fund Endorses Julian Schreibman for Congress
For Immediate Release: Jan. 27, 2013
Planned Parenthood Action Fund announces its endorsement of Julian Schreibman (NY-19). The Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
“We are proud to endorse Julian Schreibman in his race for Congress today,” said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “The stakes for New York’s women and families – and the health issues they care about – couldn’t be higher than they are in this election. Julian Schreibman is a strong advocate for women’s reproductive rights, and will be an exceptional representative in Washington, DC.”
Women’s health care has been under relentless attack in Congress. Schreibman’s opponent, Representative Chris Gibson, has voted with his allies in Washington to defund Planned Parenthood’s work providing cancer screenings and health services to women in need, and has refused to protect the medical records of victims of rape and incest from government invasion.
“Schreibman understands the struggles women face when it comes to economic security,” said Tracey Brooks, president of Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York. “His mother used her small business to support his family, and he was the first person in his family to graduate college. As a prosecutor in Ulster County, he worked to protect his community from predators who threatened children and families. In Washington, he will stand up for choices in women’s health care, and will fight to keep Congress out of personal medical decisions.”
